The Danville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance locating a man charged with six felonies stemming from a shooting that occurred in the 500 block of Keen Street on January 17, 2024, where a 19-year-old male was struck.
Devonta Lewayne Dodson, 32 of Pittsylvania County, has been charged with the following:
18.2-51.2 Aggravated Malicious Wounding
18.2-51 Attempted Malicious Wounding
18.2-51.1 Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony
18.2-280 Discharging a Firearm in Public
18.2-286.1 Shooting from a Vehicle
18.2-308.2 Possessing a Firearm by a Violent Felon
While the shooting on Keen Street was not a random act, Dodson is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as 6 foot, 3 inches tall, weighing 235 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.
