At 5:02 PM on April 24th the Danville Police Department received a call from a fisherman that he had located a body in the Dan River. The body was located west of Martin Luther King Bridge in the river. With assistance of the Dive Team of the Danville Life Saving Crew the body was removed. The body had no identification and is described as being a white or Hispanic male, 6’00 to 6’02. The male was wearing blue jeans with a black belt, brown zip up hooded sweatshirt and white socks. The body appears to have been in the water for several days. The body will be transported to the Medical Examiners Office in Roanoke for an autopsy. Anyone with any information on the identity of the person is encouraged to contact the Danville Police Department. The investigation is continuing at this time.
