On Saturday April 30, 2011 the Danville Police Department in cooperation with RASAP (Regional Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention), Danville Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, and the Drug Enforcement Administration hosted a prescription drug take back for safe disposal. The take back occurred at Wal Mart located at 515 Mt. Cross Rd. in Danville.
The Danville site was one of 135 sites throughout Virginia that took part in this national event and received a total of 200.7 pounds of prescription drugs, making it the 8th largest in the state in terms of pounds received. Statewide, a total of 9,504.2 pound of prescription drugs were taken out of circulation during this four hour event.
