A man was shot during an attempted armed robbery this afternoon.
At approximately 3:56 pm today Danville Police responded to the Joy Food Store on Riverside Drive for a report of a man being shot. Upon arrival they discovered the store clerk with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He reported that two black males came into the store, displayed handguns, and demanded money. The clerk was shot during the encounter, and the would be robbers fled the scene on foot. The clerk was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment. At the time of this release his condition is listed as stable, and he is expected to recover from his injuries.
The suspects are further described as being in their late teens or early twenties, one wearing a white tank top, and the other wearing a red tank top. The investigation is ongoing.
