An indictment for murder has been issued in an August 2019 homicide.
This week a grand jury issued an indictment for 1st Degree Murder against 29-year-old Rakim La'Tae Knight for the 8-2-2019 homicide of Kymon Haley on Parker Rd. He continues to be held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.

Danville Police were dispatched to a call for a person who had been shot in the 200 blk. of Parker Rd. on 8-2-2019, at 11:20 PM. Officers located a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds lying on the ground outside. He was taken to the emergency room by ambulance where he was pronounced deceased a short while later. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Kymon Haley of Milton, NC. The information known to Danville Police at the time of this release is the victim and suspect knew one another and an ongoing dispute escalated into a shooting incident. The suspect has been identified as Rakim La’Tae Knight, age 29, of Danville. Investigators obtained felony arrest warrants against Knight for the following:
VA State Code 18.2-280 (A) – Willfully discharging firearms in public places resulting in bodily injury
VA State Code 18.2-53.1 – Use or display of firearm in committing felony
