The response to COVID-19 is rapidly evolving and necessitates a fluid response and we are committed to doing our part to help keep our community healthy.
We will be modifying some of our regular services to follow public health recommendations to limit close contact with others whenever possible. Here is how this guidance will affect some of our response to calls for service:
- We will give callers the option to file a report by phone for certain non-emergency, non-violent or non-criminal calls that have already happened instead of an in-person response from an officer.
- Our subsequent investigation and follow-up procedures will not change.
- We will continue to respond to all emergency calls for service according to standard procedures.
Officers have also been encouraged to practice social distancing and may ask individuals to step outside at times when they are talking with individuals. These slight changes to our procedures will minimize the risk of our officers spreading germs to others and help keep our community members and officers healthy.
