Police are searching for the man who robbed two retail stores in Danville Wednesday afternoon.
The first robbery happened at Family Dollar located at 2639 North Main Street at 12:25 p.m. The offender brandished a handgun and demanded money from the cashier. While police were still on that scene, someone robbed the Dollar General at 2398 West Main Street at 1:00 p.m.
Based on surveillance video, police believe the same man robbed both stores. The robber is described as a black male with a beard in his late forties or fifties wearing dark colored shorts, a dark shirt with a mask covering his nose and mouth. He was possibly in a white 4-door sedan believed to be a mid-nineties model Buick.
Though several patrons were in the stores, we are thankful that no one was injured in either incident. The robber made off with an undisclosed amount of money from each store.
Danville Police immediately spread out to other Family Dollar and Dollar General stores in the city to make them aware and provide them with the suspect description. Police also sent a regional broadcast to surrounding law enforcement agencies.
