At approximately 3:15PM this afternoon, a 57-year-old Danville man arrived at the SOVAH Danville emergency department suffering from a single gunshot wound to a leg, which was non-life threatening. The victim reported a young black male acquaintance got inside of his car in the Bell Drive area of Danville. The acquaintance produced a handgun and demanded money. When the victim did not comply with the robbery demands, he was shot once and then robbed of cash and personal items. The suspect fled on foot while the victim was able to drive to the hospital for treatment.
Investigators were able to develop 19-year-old Danville resident Terry Ja'von West as the suspect. West was charged with robbery, malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony before 6:00PM, then all investigative efforts were placed on locating West. The search for West continued with criminal investigations, special investigations, and the crime deterrence and interdiction unit collectively tracking West to a Chatelaine Avenue address just before 7:00PM. After surrounding the residence, Terry Ja'von West was arrested without further incident. After follow-up investigations steps were completed, West was booked and is being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond. This was not a random act of violence, and no further suspects are being sought.
