At 9:31 AM, the Danville Police Department responded to the apartment complex at 1575 Richmond Blvd for a call of a man being shot outside of an apartment. Officers located a 29-year-old Danville resident, Brandon Alexander Gore, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound in the breezeway of the K building.
The person of interest in this case has been identified as 24-year-old Andrew Jovanni Menjivar. The belief is Menjivar left the apartment complex on foot, still in possession of a handgun wearing a white tank top style t-shirt. Police are actively searching for Andrew Menjivar at this time, including the use of a trained K9 for tracking.
The early investigation shows the deceased and the suspect were acquaintance's and this was not a random act, nor does it have any gang related nexus.
The Danville Police Department is asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of Andrew Menjivar or may have seen him moving around this morning to contact the Danville Police Department by calling 911. Although no direct threat to the public is known, the police department would ask citizens to contact 911 and avoid direct contact should they encounter Menjivar as he may still be armed.
Crime scene and investigators are actively working the crime scene and further updates will be released when they are available.
Anyone with information on Manjivar's location or has information about this homicide may contact the Danville Police Department through any available platforms to include calling patrol at 799-6510, investigations at 799-6508, calling 911, contacting Crime stoppers at 434-793-0000, through social media or use our crime tips app CARE at https://www.p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=818#.
