The Danville Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a suspect vehicle, identifying suspects, and locating one known individual that has been charged in a Monday evening shooting incident.
On August 15, 2022, at approximately, 5:15 PM, the Danville Police Department responded to the 100 block of North Avenue for reports of gunfire. The investigation found that a gold SUV drove past a group of individuals in the 100 block of North Ave and the occupant(s) of the SUV opened fire as they drove by. A male individual in the group fired back at the SUV as it fled the scene on North Avenue.
Warrants were obtained for the arrest of 18-year-old male Danville resident, Xzvaion Smith, for attempted malicious wounding, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He has not been located and police are asking for the public’s help in locating Mr. Smith. No photograph is available for release at this time.
Detectives are also looking for the gold SUV, which appears to be a GMC Terrain or possibly a Chevrolet Equinox that is pictured below. A parked vehicle and a residence were struck by the exchange of gunfire, but no one was believed to be injured in this incident. This is not believed to be a random act of violence as the individuals involved are believed to know each other.
