In the early hours on August 18, 2022 through the diligent work of our investigators, Danville Police Department (DPD) apprehended the 14-year-old Danville teen who was being sought for robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony regarding the recent homicide on Tuesday afternoon.
DPD is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 19-year-old Marte Wil-Shownn Oliver who is wanted for robbery, use of a firearm during a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon in relation to this incident that ended in the death of Mr. Duffy. Mr. Oliver is believed to have left the scene still in possession of a firearm and should be considered armed and dangerous.

DANVILLE, VA - Yesterday at approximately 4:19 PM, the Danville Police Department responded to the 300 block of Halifax Street for calls of shots fired. Officers located a male victim suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound(s) to his upper body. The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Danville resident Patrick Lanigan Duffy.
The investigation has led to charges being brought against two Danville males who are now being sought. The Danville Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 19-year-old Marte Wil-Shownn Oliver who is wanted for robbery, use of a firearm during a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon in relation to this incident that ended in the death of Mr. Duffy.
A 14-year-old Danville teen is being sought for robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony from this incident, but his identity is being withheld because of his age while the investigation continues.
Mr. Oliver is believed to have left the scene still in possession of a firearm and should be considered armed and dangerous.
