On Monday, September 12, 2022, at 5 pm on the corner of Sycamore and Spruce, the Danville Police Department will host our monthly community engagement walk. The focus of our community engagement walks is to build public trust and develop positive relationships between officers and community members. The DPD will go in a particular neighborhood, meet, and greet the resident, and let them know we are here to help. We hope to gain information from the neighbors about concerns in their neighborhood, for example, if there is littering in the area, a property nuisance, etc. The DPD will actively listen to citizens' issues and be problem solvers within the community.
This walk will differ from our typical walks as all DPD officers will dress in casual clothing, walk the neighborhood, and speak to those citizens who are already outside of their homes instead of our normal door knocking. Last year, Chief Scott Booth determined September community engagement walks will be in honor of Norma Brower. A link to her obituary is below:
