The Danville Police Department in conjunction with Danville Public Schools and Virginia State Police are investigating a threat received by email Monday, Feb. 13, at George Washington High School (GW).
While the source of the threat remains under investigation, at this time there appears to be no credible evidence of a threat against GW students.
Before students arrived Monday, the police department was made aware by Danville Public Schools of a threat received by a school employee.
The school system asked GW students to remain at home Monday, out of an abundance of caution, opting instead for a virtual learning day. GW students are also participating in a virtual learning day Tuesday, Feb. 14 as the investigation continues.
