The Danville Police Department is pleased to announce that 24 youth ages 9-17 will be graduating from the Youth Police Academy Thursday, June 29, at 10 a.m.
Community members and the media are invited to attend and celebrate their achievements. Awards will also be presented during the ceremony.
Over the last three weeks, youth cadets have met officers within the Danville Police Department and learned what they do day-to-day. Their exposure to a career in criminal justice didn’t stop there. Cadets have also experienced the Danville General District Court, toured the Danville City Jail, received ROTC training, learned how K9 officers handle tasks and operations, heard from various speakers about their personal experiences and participated in a multitude of team building exercises.
Thursday’s ceremony will take place in the annex building of the Danville Police Department, located at 1 Community Way.
