To celebrate and commemorate individuals during Black History Month, the Danville Police Department held an event showcasing various individuals who have impacted their communities, locally and globally Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1 Community Way.
Interns from East Carolina University, Aaliyah Hodnett and Jada Daniels, helped make this possible by formulating a program that allowed students to portray a particular individual such as Wendell Scott or Bessie Colemen.
The program was informative, engaging, and allowed people to know more about their community.

During the event, Officer Ernest Coppage read in full Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech.
Following the presentations, Deputy Chief Timothy Jones presented a speech to conclude the event.
