07/26/24 UPDATE: Two people have been arrested following a robbery that occurred at Pizza Hut in the 3000 block of Riverside Dr. Wednesday, July 17.
Jayvian Amari Davis, 19, has been arrested on the charges of carjacking, armed robbery, and two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He was arrested in Kannapolis, NC Friday, July 26 through our partnership with the United States Marshal Service and local law enforcement. Davis was given a $1 million bond and is pending extradition.
Phayzaun Shacore Edmonds, 21, was arrested for conspiracy to commit carjacking by the Danville Police Department. He is being held in the Danville City Jail under no bond.
The Department wishes to thank the U.S. Marshal Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force (CRFTF) and the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) for their assistance with this investigation.
Around 7:45 p.m. on July 17, officers responded to Pizza Hut in the 3000 block of Riverside Dr. for a report of an armed robbery in which the suspect fled on the victim's vehicle. A 42-year-old female reported being robbed at gunpoint of her vehicle and personal items while she was sitting in the lot waiting on her food.
The suspect was described as a black male with light complexion wearing all black and a face covering, armed with a handgun. The male suspect drove east on Riverside Drive. A short time later officers spotted the vehicle southbound on South Main Street. The driver accelerated quickly and crashed near the intersection of Lockett Drive while making a turn off South Main Street. The suspect then fled the scene on foot into a wooded area.
No one was injured during the robbery incident.

07/17/24 ORIGINAL RELEASE: Robbery Investigation, Suspect Sought
The Danville Police Department is seeking information from the public following a robbery that occurred on Wednesday, July 17.
Around 7:45 p.m., officers responded to Pizza Hut in the 3000 block of Riverside Dr. for a report of an armed robbery in which the suspect fled on the victim's vehicle. A 42-year-old female reported being robbed at gunpoint of her vehicle and personal items while she was sitting in the lot waiting on her food.
The suspect is described as a black male with light complexion wearing all black and a face covering, armed with a handgun. The male suspect drove east on Riverside Drive. A short time later officers spotted the vehicle southbound on South Main Street. The driver accelerated quickly and crashed near the intersection of Lockett Drive while making a turn off South Main Street. The suspect then fled the scene on foot into a wooded area. A heavy police presence has been in the area including K 9 tracks, but the suspect has not been located as of this release.
No one was injured during the robbery incident.
Businesses located on and around Riverside Drive with video footage from Wednesday afternoon are asked to notify the Danville Police Department.
