The Danville Police Department earned a top honor at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference (IACP) in Boston Tuesday, Oct. 22.
During the awards banquet, the Department was honored with the IACP Excellence in Criminal Investigations Award. This award recognizes exceptional innovation in managing and conducting criminal investigations with the goal of sharing information to advance the art and science of criminal investigations.
The award recognizes the excellence of the Department’s Special Investigations Section as follows:

Accepting the award on behalf of the Department was Lieutenant J. Dixon. In addition, Chief Chris Wiles, Captain of Investigations Sam Bray, Sergeant B. Langley, and Sergeant D. Lancaster attended the ceremony.
This is the first IACP award for the Department.
The Danville Police Department would like to recognize the women and men of our Department and partner law enforcement agencies who contributed to the incredible work that made award possible, including Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Newman and his office, the US Attorney’s Office of the Western District, the Virginia State Police, ATF, and the U.S. Marshal Service as well the transformational leadership of former Chief Scott Booth.
