Friday afternoon, Dec. 6, just before 2 p.m., Danville Police Department officers were dispatched to a home in the 1300 block of College Park Drive for a well-being check on the resident, Patsy Scearce, 81. Scearce was found dead inside the home with trauma to her upper body. Scearce lived there with her grandson, Barry Pyron, Jr., 35.
Prior to the well-being check call, at 11:46 a.m. this morning, a train traveling through the city reported striking a male who abruptly walked out into the path of the train in the area of West Main Street and Booth Road. The male was identified as Pyron, who lives with his grandmother, Scearce, on College Park Drive. He sustained major injuries and was transported to a regional medical facility for treatment.
Pyron has been charged with second degree murder.
Due to the ongoing investigation and for security reasons, the Danville Police Department is not releasing any additional information at this time.
