[ARCHIVED] Arrest Made Following July 2024 Shooting Incident

Knowles, Antroy

Following an extensive investigation into the July 19, 2024 shooting in the 1500 block of Halifax Rd., the Danville Police Department on Friday, Dec. 20, arrested Antroy Sameal Knowles, 25, and charged him with three counts of malicious wounding, three counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, three counts of reckless handling of a firearm that caused serious bodily injury, five counts of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling, and one count of malicious damage.

Knowles was arrested in North Carolina and is being held in the Rockingham County Jail pending extradition.

On July 19, 2024, at approximately 9:56 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call of shots being fired at a residence in the 1500 block of Halifax Rd. Once on scene, officers discovered a 40-year-old Ringgold resident suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. While on scene, a 19-year-old male and 20-year-old female, both from Danville, arrived at SOVAH Danville emergency room with non-life threatening gunshot wounds that occurred at the same incident.

The investigation revealed that a private party, including multiple hired security officers, was taking place at the residence where the shooting incident occurred. The 40-year-old victim was a security officer and the other victims were attending the party. It appears shots were fired from a vehicle near the residence which resulted in the three individuals being struck.

Three victims were treated for injuries sustained during the shooting incident.

The Department wishes to thank the Eden Police Department for their assistance in the apprehension of Knowles.

This investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who was present, has information, or has access to video from the time of the incident is asked to contact the Danville Police Department by either calling 911, patrol at 434-799-6510 option 4, investigations at 434-799-6508 option 3, and option 1 again, contacting Crime Stoppers at 434-793-0000, approach any officer you see, through social media, via email crimetips@danvilleva.gov, or use our crime tips app CARE at www.p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=818#.
