There are various types of deeds and recording fees and taxes vary depending on the type of deed to be recorded. You may use the Virginia Courts Deed Calculation System to obtain fees or contact the Clerk's Office for assistance. Payment by cash or personal check is required at the time of recordation.

3. Who can tell me if there are liens against real estate?

The employees of the Clerk's Office are prohibited by law from performing title examinations. We can assist you in locating a specific lien record, but cannot perform a title search. You may contact a licensed attorney to have a title search performed.
