In Danville, you can find a great place to call home and a community to support you - regardless of your age! Below are a few resources for our seasoned residents.
Ballou Park
Ballou Recreation Center provides recreational opportunities to adults over 50 and services to senior citizens ages 60 and over. Monthly activity calendars are available for pick up at the facility. Programs include special events and tournaments, trips, dance classes, exercise and fitness classes, educational workshops, and arts and crafts classes.
Services as such transportation, blood pressure and body mass checks, real estate tax relief and reduced refuse fees are offered to adults who are over 60 years of age. Staff are available to speak to churches, civic groups, community organizations and housing complexes regarding services that are available. More information can be found by calling 434-799-5200.
Senior Transportation
Senior Transportation is available to Danville city residents only, aged 60+ through Danville Transit. Certification requirements are not required. However, seniors must call Danville Transit and provide information that is required by the Southern Area Agency on Aging.
Southern Area Agency on Aging
The Southern Area Agency on Aging provides services established through the federal Older Americans Act. Some services are designed for the care of frail or disabled elders. Others are intended to keep relatively health people strong and active. Learn more about their services and programming on their website, www.southeraaa.org.
